Obit courtesy of [email protected] The Phonograph, St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska, Thursday, May 24 , 1917, Number 21, page 8 Death Claims Two in Albert Obermiller Family On Friday, May 18, at noon, the angel of death claimed little Orville Obermiller, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Obermiller. This little boy was only nine months and 17 days old, having been born on July 26, 1916. The loss of this baby was indeed a sad blow to the family, but on Sunday evening a more severe blow was struck in that home when Leonard, their oldest child met a tragical and sudden death . . . . Leonard was the oldest of the children, being 13 years, 1 month and 15 days old when he met this sudden and untimely death. Besides the grief stricken parents, there remain the following brothers and sisters to mourn the loss of their two brothers, namely: George, Mildred, Harold, Margurite (Margaret) and Irvine. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. P. A. Davies of St. Paul who spoke consolingly to the bereaved ones. The remains of the two little brothers were then laid to rest side by side in one grave in the Kelso cemetery. In spite of the bad roads, a very large crowd was present to pay their last respects to the little ones and also to offer their sympathy to the bereaved ones. The floral offerings were also many and beautiful, both of the little caskets being covered with flowers. This writer, together with the entire community desires to extend our deepest sympathy to the grief stricken family during this their hour of double sorrow. ****** Additional obit-Lincoln, Ne Herald, May 25, 1917 Pg 1, Col4: "Lost Two Children Same Day, Grand Island - A strange case of dual grief and misfortune has attended the family of Mr and Mrs Albert Obermiller of Farwell. Shortly after the death of their baby, their little boy, presumably while on an errand, was killed when the horse which he was riding, fell and the lad was thrown under the heavy animal."
