http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~neplatte/vitals/vitals1967.html The Daily Telegram, June 15, 1967 BERNT--Mrs. William Bernt dies; funeral services Friday Mrs. William (Mary) Bernt, 84, of 1365 32nd Ave., died Wednesday at Behlen Memorial hospital after a six-month illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Hugo Rathkamp officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. today to noon Friday at McKown Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. at the chruch. She was born April 13, 1883 in Polk county to Emil and Mary Hanson Hasselbalch. She attended Polk county schools and on Sept. 23, 1903 married William Bernt at Osceola. They lived in Polk county and Columbus. Memorial may be made to Trinity Lutheran church of which Mrs. Bernt was a member. Survivors include her husband, son, Roy, brothers, George and August Hasselbalch, Shelby, and Otto and Ralph Hasselbalch, and a sister, Dora Shank, Columbus. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister, Lena Miller and brother, Nels Hasselbalch.
