SHANK-Funeral services for Mrs. Fred (Dora) Shank, 85, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Columbus. The Rev. J. Graydon Wilson officiated, and burial was in Shelby Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Bernt, George Utesch, Myron Callaghan, Neal Hasselbalch, Jack McEnerney and Carl Spidle. McKown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shank, who resided at 958 27th Avenue, died Friday at Behlen Hospital after a three-week illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1887, in Polk County, the daughter of Emil and Marie Hansen Hasselbalch, and attended Polk County schools. She was married to Fred Shank June 17, 1909, and they resided in Polk County and Madison. Mrs. Shank, a Methodist, is survived by one son, Owen Shank of Sullivan, Ill, and three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Helen) Offord of Roseburg, Ore., Mrs. Paul (Roma) Alexander of Wichita Falls, Tex., Mrs. Phyllis Newstrom of Sioux Falls, S.D. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren; and three brothers, George and August of Shelby and Ralph of Columbus: She was preceded in death by granddaughter, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
