Dr. Winslow was born January 3, 1924 in Bolinger, Alabama to Grover Cleveland Winslow, Sr. and Augusta "Gussie" Stanley Winslow. He grew up on a farm in Alabama during the Great Depression and was the oldest of nine children. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was there to dispense medicine and advice, to help those in need, to share his wisdom, and to deliver countless babies. He was instrumental in development of Sabine County Hospital, which has also been named The Grover C. Winslow, M. D. Medical Facility, where he served as Chief of Staff for many years. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the VFW Post 10351 in Hemphill. Doc loved his job and his family.
