Bio

Jean Winslow Mosley, age 91, affectionally known as "WuWu" passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2004, at the home of her daughter in Mobile, AL. Jean was born in Cullomburg, AL on October 27, 1933 to Grover C. Winslow, Sr. and Gussie Stanley Winslow. She graduated from Silas High School then pursued nursing at Mobile City Hospital. After her graduation from the nursing school, she went on to become head nurse for the first ICU in Mobile. Later, she moved to Hemphill, TX to work with her brother, Dr. Grover Winslow, Jr. in his private practice and helped him establish an inpatient facility. She wanted to further her education and moved to Tuscaloosa, AL where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and became a registered nurse. Moving back to Choctaw County, she worked the remainder of her career for West Alabama Health Services. She was a long-time member of Cullomburg Baptist Church. Jean was preceded in death by her brothers Dr. Grover Winslow Jr, Richard "Bo" Winslow, her sisters Mildred Jones and Helen Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Mosley Hester (Larry), grandson Andrew Hester, and great-grandchildren, Lola Hester and Cruiz Hester. She is also survived by siblings Dr. Stanley Winslow (Cherie), Edith Glassman and Evelyn Black. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Cullomburg Cemetery in Cullomburg, AL, with Reverend Sammy Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Cullomburg Baptist Church in Cullomburg, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cullomburg Cemetery fund.
