Bio
Freida (Soukup) Burton, 67, of Lancaster, formerly of West, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Arthur D. Mallinson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery near West. Freida will lie-in-state from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Freida was born in West, Texas, to the late Joseph and Anastasia (Sinkule) Soukup. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1958. After graduation she attended 4-C Business College in Waco. Freida did clerical work for First National Bank of Dallas and Henson Printing Co. in Waco. She also worked at Macy's at the Galleria in Dallas before retiring in 1999. Freida's passion was taking care of her beloved cat, Oscar, and her great-nieces, Ally and Elise. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and eating chocolate. A brother, Sam Soukup, preceded her in death. Survivors include brother, Ed Soukup and wife, Doris, of Houston; sisters, Mary Sybert and husband, Bob, of Lago Vista, and Monica May and husband, John, of Lancaster; nephews, Dr. Gregory Soukup and wife, Megan, Mark Soukup, Joey Soukup and wife, Maribel, Jason Williams, Brian Sybert and wife, Vanessa, and Joshua May and wife, Sadie; niece, Kim Cuellar and husband, Rich; her cat, Oscar; other relatives, and many friends.
