My favorite Uncle Cam, John was the son of Abner Carroll and Nancy Trythenia Gilmore of Anderson Co., TX. He served in the U.S. Navy prior to WW2 on the U.S.S. Claxton DD140. During the war he served in the Merchant Marines. At one time he served as a Minister of the Gospel in Dallas, TX. He owned AAA Auto Transport in Houston, TX. He was a kind and generous man, loved dogs, baseball and crabbing. His favorite dog was a mixed bulldog named Jim that was always by his side in his later years. Jim would sleep under John's office desk during the day. Together they watched many a baseball game on TV. He also had two other favorite dogs, Sandy and Troubles. After they passed he rescued his last dog "Shrimpboat". Charles E. Carroll
