Elaine Gay Dayton Simmons ( December 29, 1947 - November 11, 2019 ) Funeral service for Elaine Gay Dayton Simmons will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at First Baptist East with Rev. Doug Passmore, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the funeral home. Our Lord Jesus called Elaine Gay Dayton Simmons, 71, home to heaven on November 11, 2019. Elaine was born December 29, 1947 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Lloyd A. Dayton and Elwyn V. “Elwa” (Woodson) Dayton. Dementia took her from this world way too early. Elaine attended school in Lawton at Lincoln Elementary, Central Junior High, and Lawton High School graduating in 1966 where she was a straight “A” student and top of her graduating class. Elaine married Arthur Eugene “Gene” Simmons on August 20, 1966. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary this past August. They enjoyed a wonderful life with their two sons, David and Mark. Elaine’s grandchildren and great grandchild were the highlight of her life. She loved them so much. Elaine worked for her husband in his plumbing business for many years, and then later worked at the Southwest Oklahoma Federal Credit Union until retirement. At the credit union she began working there as the switchboard operator and worked her way up to be the branch manager opening three branch locations in the process. Elaine always decorated for Christmas with the most wonderful display of Christ honoring decorations. Elaine was a very talented person. She sang in the choir, played the piano and organ, and enjoyed making all kinds of crafts. She loved shopping with her sisters. Elaine is survived by her husband of the home and two sons, David and Melanie Simmons of Elgin, and Mark and Amanda Simmons of League City, Texas, four wonderful grandchildren, Jordan and Zach Bethel, Elgin, Oklahoma, Adam and Amanda Simmons, Dover, Ohio, Dayton Simmons and Hudson Simmons, League City, Texas, and one great grandchild, Davie Jo Bethel, Elgin. She is also survived by three brothers, Darrell and Loretta Dayton, Bobby Dayton, and Neal and Bonnie Dayton, all of Lawton, three sisters, Linda and Don Daigle, Houston, Texas, Marilyn and Rick Kitzrow, Lawton, Debbie and Charles Duggar, Duncan, Oklahoma, and brother-in-law, Billy Mike Simmons and wife Judy of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Elaine loved her nieces and nephews, Leesa Rosenbaum, Mikie Salazar, Brent Dayton, Chad Dayton, Todd Dayton, Bryan Kitzrow, Emily Kitzrow, Philip Champouillon, Shannon Arrington, Brandi Riccitelli, and all of their spouses, children, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, an infant brother, David Dayton, a sister, Mary Sue Dayton, and grandparents, Alger and Hazel Dayton, Paul and Sophia Traughber, and Elwyn Woodson.
