On headstone at Rock Church Cemetery, Hood County, Texas: On double marker with Olivia Anne Deaver (1866-1891). Robert Lathanial Deaver was the son of William Jasper Deaver (1833 – 1912) and Susan Cooper-Deaver (1836 – 1920) both of whom are buried in Glenn Cementery, Hood County, Texas. Robert “RL” Deaver married Olivia Anne Keahey in Nov 14, 1889, Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas. RL and Olivia's first child, Mary L Deaver was born October 6, 1890 and died October 22, 1890, and is buried in Glenn Cemetery, Hood County, Texas, near her grandparents, Wm Jasper and Susan Cooper-Deaver. The couple celebrated the birth of their second child, Olivia Anne Deaver on 02 Sep 1891 in Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas, d. 12 Apr 1968, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. On December 25, 1901, RL married Mary Jane “Molly” Slaton (1884 – 1958), daughter of William M. “Mack” Slaton (1855 – 1947) and Eliza Jane Jacobs (1857 – 1935). RL and Molly had twelve children, of whom ten lived. RL was a water/oil well driller in an occupation that created the need in the early 1900’s for the family to move from state to state. By 1917, the family was living in Malpais, New Mexico. In 1924, the family was living in Pasadena, California. The family was back in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas by 1925 and then moved in 1927 to Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. Sometime after 1927 the nucleus of the marriage for RL and Molly started crumbling. To date, a divorce record has not been located. But, by 1930, RL was living in Sophie, Union County, New Mexico per 1930 US Census Record with his son Robert Linan Deaver and Frances Virginia Deaver. While Molly is thought to have been living with their youngest son, Marvin Anthony Deaver in Bernalillo, New Mexico and by 1933 a marriage certificate was found for Molly and Robert Page. By 1930, the younger children had been divided up amongst the older girls of the family. In 1935 RL was living back in Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas with John Roland Deaver, his brother and after yet another move RL (73) and John (77) were found in US 1940 Census in Buckhorn, New Mexico. Shortly after 1940, RL moved back to Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, to live with his daughter, Frances Virginia Deaver-Dennis and husband, Thomas Ely Dennis and their three children. For the years that followed his move to his daughter’s home, RL lived his life enjoying his grandchildren and making return trips to Bluff Dale, Texas to visit with his brothers. RL also created a cement curb around the burial plot where his first wife had laid in rest since 1891 at Rock Church Cemetery. He carried water up an embankment of the Paluxy River to mix his mortar. RL completely squared a cement curb around his final resting place. RL enjoyed the birth of his daughter’s fourth child in 1950 during his last year with his daughter’s family. On November 20, 1950, RL walked from 2213 Refugio Street, Fort Worth, Texas to 111 West Exchange Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas to his daughters, Edna Ethel Deaver-Voit’s and France Virginia Deaver-Dennis’s Edna’s Star Café to enjoy his morning breakfast. RL made the trip to the Star Café several mornings a week and always sat on the last stool next to the kitchen door. It was from this stool on November 20th that RL suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was rushed to Saint Joseph Catholic Hospital in downtown Fort Worth. RL died at 4:00 pm on November 21, 1950. His death certificate informant was his daughter, Frances Virginia Deaver-Dennis. RL was laid to rest next to his first wife, Olivia Anne Keahey-Deaver on November 24, 1950 at the Rock Church Cemetery in Tolar, Hood County, Texas.
