Bio

Susan Cooper was born December 21, 1836 to Lockard and Mary Jane Snider-Cooper. She married William Jasper Deaver on December 7, 1857 in Haywood County, North Carolina. William and Susan were married 54 years and had nine children. On 7 Dec 1857 in Haywood County, Susan married William Jasper Deaver of Murphy, Cherokee County, North Carolina. By 1860 the couple had started a move westward. In 1860 the family were living in Georgia Militia District 1011, Murray, Georgia. Susan and William had 2 small children by this census taking, James and Mary. After the Civil War ended in 1865, William and Susan moved their family northward to Tennessee to continue a migration of a new life together. By the taking of the 1870 census the family had moved to Waverly, Humphreys, Tennessee. Their young family had grown with the births of Roland, Anderson, Robert and Texie. Texie died in Waverly sometime after June 1870. Texie Oct 1869-aft Jun 1870. By the taking of the 1880 census the family had moved to Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas. The family added Ira, Effie and Georgia by 1880 to their family. The family settled in to life in Bluff Dale living close to William’s brothers, Roland of Erath County and Archibald of Hood County. Susan and William were married for 54 years upon the death of William Jasper in 1912. Susan lived until 13 Dec 1920. Susan and William are buried next to each other in the Glenn Cemetery in Hood County, Texas. Susan was buried close to her mother’s grave in the Glenn Cemetery.
