Bio

William Jasper Deaver was born July 1, 1833 in Murphy, North Carolina. His parents were Nathanial Deaver and Adriah Dryer-Deaver. He married Susan Cooper on Dec 7, 1857 in Haywood County, North Carolina. From the late 1850s through the late 1870s, they spent time in Murray County Georgia, Polk County Tennessee, and Waverly, Humprheys County Tennessee. In late October 1876, William packed up his family headed out to Texas along with Lige Deaver's family (cousin). In Dallas the group parted ways with William heading to Bluff Dale, Erath County, Texas and Lige's family headed to Belton, Bell County, Texas. The day before Christmas 1876 William and family arrived at William's brother, Roland Nathanial Deaver's home in Bluff Dale. The family stayed about 10 days with Roland, and then William rented a farm east of Bluff Dale in Paluxy valley with a little log house on it and small kitchen. During the summer of 1877 the family ate under a brush arbor. William arrived in Bluff Dale with $15.50 paid $15.00 for a cow and young calf. William bought corn from Roland on credit. William and the boys had a very good crop that year of corn and cotton. William and the boys also farmed a crop of cotton on Berrys Creek on the Denny farm and made money on that crop. Thus, was the beginning of the life in Texas.
