Mary Jane “Mollie” Slaton was born 22 Feb 1884 in Pike County, Alabama to William M Slaton and Eliza Jane Jacobs. Her family moved from Pike County in about 1885 to Payne County, Oklahoma. By 1900 the family is found in the US Census records living in Granbury, Hood County, Texas. Mollie met Robert Lathanial Deaver at a town hall dance in Tolar, Hood County, Texas, where Robert was calling the evening dancing. They married in Hood County, Texas, 25 Dec 1901. Her new husband was 18 years Mollie’s senior. Robert and Mollie moved to Bluff Dale, Erath County, to begin their new life together. Robert was a water well driller and his occupation found the family moving around Texas, New Mexico and California as he moved from one well site to another. The new Deaver family grew quiet rapidly into ten living children by 1927. Shortly after the birth of their youngest son, Marvin Anthony in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas, on 29 Jul 1927, Mollie and Robert separated and divorced before 1930. The divorce left the family in turmoil with the older girls of the family taking their younger siblings into their homes in the 1930 US Census records. No record of 1930 US Census has been found for Mollie with her youngest son, Marvin living in Wichita County, Hood County, Tarrant County, Texas or Bernalillo County, New Mexico all known locations Mollie had lived. Mollie married Robert Page in Bernalillo County, New Mexico about 1933. Mollie and Robert Page are found living in 1940 US Census for Bernalillo County, New Mexico. Mollie’s marriage to Robert Page ended sometime in the late 1940’s or early 1950’s in divorce in New Mexico. Mollie moved from New Mexico and lived with her daughter, Edna Ethel Deaver-Voit in the mid-1950’s to 2317 Chestnut Avenue, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. In June of 1958, Mollie while still living with her daughter, Edna Deaver-Voit suffered a Cerebral stoke; secondary to Hypertensive Cardio Vascular disease and died on 9 June 1958 at her daughter’s home. On 10 June 1958 Mary Jane “Mollie” Slaton-Deaver-Page, age 74 was laid to rest by her children at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas.
