Jerry Stanislav, 91, of West, passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at West Rest Haven. Rosary and visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Jerry was born in West, Texas, to the late August "Gus" and Christine (Mashek) Stanislav. He graduated from St. Mary's School and was the last surviving male member of West High School class of 1935. On Oct. 15, 1940, he married Estelle Vanek at the Church of the Assumption in West. Jerry was a farmer and rancher until 1978. He then drove a bus for the West Independent School District for 10 years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Assumption in West where he served as an usher for many decades. Mr. Stanislav's hobbies included watching his sons, and later his grandsons, play baseball. He also enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Mike Stanislav in 2005; and a grandson, Michael Maguire in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Estelle, of West; daughter, Jeanie Maguire and husband, Jim, of West; son, Jerry W. Stanislav and wife, Tina, of The Woodlands; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Stanislav, of Waco; grandchildren, Kathleen Kruger and husband, Richard, of Lorena, Susan Cooper, of Austin, Brian Maguire and wife, Tracey, of Macon, Ga., Scott Stanislav, of College Station, and Kyle Stanislav, of Waco; great-grandchildren, Matt Kruger and wife, Julie, of Kingwood, Andrew Kruger, of College Station, Jason Kruger, of Lorena and Chris Cooper, of Austin; siblings, Tina Needham of Syracuse, N.Y., Lucille Wernet of West, and Margaret Clark of Dallas.
