Bio

Verlin Alfred Pittman, age 69, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Verlin was born October 17, 1934, in Sac County, the son of Anthony and Christina (Tiefenthaler) Pittman. He graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1953. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and lived most of his life around the Wall Lake area. On December 29, 1989, he was united in marriage to Linda McKee at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake. Verlin worked at the popcorn plant in Wall Lake, hauled gravel, and farmed with his brother Virgil in Crawford County. He enjoyed working on his cars and old tractors. He loved to go for rides to see the sites. Verlin is survived by his wife Linda; a brother Virtus Pittman and his wife Betty of Wall Lake, IA; two sisters: Valaria Meister of Wall Lake, IA, and Vivalee Pickhinke and her husband Edward of Sac City, IA; two brothers-in-law: Doug McKee and his wife Ruby of Castlewood, SD, and Larry McKee and his wife Judy of Grand Rapids, MN; two sisters-in-law: Charlene Poppen and her husband Melvin of Lino Lakes, MN, and Marie McKee of Hutchinson, MN; extended family and many friends. His parents Anthony and Christina Pittman and two brothers, Virgil and Virial Pittman, preceded Verlin in death. Funeral services will be Friday, May 28, 2004, 10:30 a.m., at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wall Lake, Iowa, with Father John McGuirk officiating. Sue Mein will accompany the St. Joseph's Choir. Pallbearers include the following: Gunner Pedersen, Dale Pedersen, Doug McKee, Dale Gronau, Tim Straub, and Melvin Poppen. Burial will be at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home. Visitation is Thursday, May 27th, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:30.
