Vera McCauley Funeral services for Vera McCauley will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Pitkin with the Reverends Paul Johnson and Brian Thurman officiating. Committal services will follow in the Marlow Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale. Mrs. McCauley, 78, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Monday, March 17, 2008, in the Oakdale Community Hospital. She was born March 26, 1929 in Leesville to the union of Jessie James and Lanie Deason James. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pitkin, Pitkin Ladies Auxiliary and a homemaker. She was also a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Preceding her in death were her parents; Jessie and Lanie James; her husband, Tom McCauley; one son, Perry Johnson; one sister, Nola Faye Ruble; and one grandson, Thad Mancil. She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, one son, Paul Johnson and wife Connie of Paris, Texas; one daughter, Vickie Buxton and Guy Farley of Oakdale; one daughter-in-law, Jennell Johnson of Pitkin; one brother, Alton Ray James of Pitkin; one sister, Zell Sweat and husband Leamon of Pitkin; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Matt Mancil, Shannon Mancil, Bryan Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Tim Johnson and Ryan Johnson.
