Bio

Viola V. Hanson, of Franklin, NE was born August 17, 1924, in Webster County, NE, to Elwin and Lela (Drake) Shipman, and died November 24, 2014, at Golden Living Center Nursing Home, Franklin. She grew up in south-central Nebraska, attended country school, and attended Guide Rock High School. She married Clyde Hanson on September 29, 1940, in Smith Center, KS. They lived on a farm south of Inavale, Nebraska. She was a typical farm wife, growing a garden and canning the produce. Viola helped her husband in many aspects of the farming operation. They left the farm, moved to Franklin, and later to Mount Hope, KS. She became a care giver to her husband until his death. Viola started a cleaning service and worked it for 25 years until she retired in 1991. She loved her flowers, and was a wonderful seamstress. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Viola lived in Minden and Holdrege, before moving back to Franklin. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; and a brother Keith. She leaves to mourn her death her daughter - Martha Kugler of Riverton; a son - Michael Hanson of Lyons, KS; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters - Ardis and husband, Bill Brown of Smith Center, KS, and Jean Gilbert of Hastings, NE; two brothers - Clifford and wife Leta Shipman of Nampa, ID, and Gerald and wife, Sharon Shipman of Cambridge; step-sister - Beverly Gryp, Preemption, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
