Bio

Keith LeRoy Shipman the son of Elwin and Lelah R. (Drake) Shipman was born June 16, 1926 in Webster County, NE. Keith departed this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, NE. Keith attended school through the 8th grade at District #49 Garfield Country school and attended Inavale and Red Cloud High School. On May 12, 1946 Keith was united in marriage to Thelma Kugler at Pleasant Hill Church in Smith County, KS. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons. Keith made farming his life's work, he dearly enjoyed raising cattle. Keith also worked part time for the ASCS office for 16 years and had been a county heavy equipment operator for a short while. He never however, allowed any of these to diminish his love for his family, children and grandchildren. Keith had served on the board of education, served as a 4H leader and on the election board. Keith is preceded in death by: parents and wife Thelma Shipman. Survivors are: sons, Gary Shipman and wife Darylnn of Red Cloud, NE. and Ron Shipman and wife Elizabeth of Fairfield, NE.; grandchildren, Konni Shipman, Sharri Kucera and Clint Shipman, Jonathan Shipman, Jennifer Shipman and Tammi Evan and husband Brad; great grandchildren, Joslyn Kucera, Caleb, Levi, Elijah and Javan Evans; sisters, Viola Hansen of Franklin, NE., Ardis Brown and husband Bill of Smith Center, KS., Jean Gilbert of Hastings, NE. and Beverly Gryp of Preemption, IL.; brothers, Clifford Shipman and wife Leta of Nampa, ID. and Gerald Shipman and wife Sharon of Cambridge, NE. and a host of relatives and friends Burial will be held in the Red Cloud Cemetery, Red Cloud, NE.
