Grandma Hajny died at the home of her son, John, north of Esbon, Wednesday, February 20th, 1907. She was born in Bohemia and with her husband, the late Thomas Hajny Sr., she came to Iowa 38 years ago. They lived there 12 years, coming to Kansas at that time where they have since resided. Of a family of twelve children there are now living, Mrs. Kate Kindler, Mrs. Mary Moravek, Frank Hajny and John Hajny all living near Esbon. James Hajny, Fairfield, Nebraska. Miss Lizzie Hajny, Topeka, Mrs. Annie Noavaeck, Linwood, Nebraska, and Mrs. Barbary Shoank, Schvler, Nebraska. (Esbon Times, Esbon, Kansas, February 28, 1907) Additional biographical information: Some family writings have her maiden name as Cvachova and born in 1829 in Radeticich. In the 1900 US census for Platte, Nebraska, she was listed as born in January, 1830, and with 11 children of which 9 were living.
