Bio
Ralph Eugene Shepherd, 88, of Ottumwa, died at 7:49 a.m. September 25, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. He was born April 25, 1931 in Ormanville, IA to Irvin and Allie Eakins Shepherd. Ralph had worked at the Wapello County Home, for Swift & Co. and operated the SOC gas station at Mary St. and Lake Rd. for 19 years. He was a member of Last Days Ministries on Finley Ave. Ralph is survived by his sister, Eileen (Ronald) Coyne of Ottumwa; numerous nieces and nephews including 3 special nephews, Larry and Richard Shepherd and Jerry Brisendine. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Laurice, Harry Earl, Carl and Ronald Shepherd; two sisters, infant Irene Shepherd and Icle Brisendine. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with his nephew, Pastor Garry Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in the Ormanville Cemetery. The family will be present one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
