Bio

Marcella (Nors) Kaska, age 89, of West, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, October 24, 2018, in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Marcella was born January 31, 1929, in Aquilla, the daughter of Henry and Antonia (Hejl) Nors. She attended Alligator School and was a 1946 graduate of Aquilla High School. She was a member of the Aquilla Cougarettes basketball team which won the state championship in 1944, 1945, and 1946. On January 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Kaska in Abbott. Ted preceded her in death on May 2, 2009. Marcella was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She worked for the City of West for over 20 years. She was an Associate director of Westfest and parade chairman for many years. Marcella enjoyed walking, being outdoors, collecting rocks, baking kolaches, making Czech costumes for her grandchildren, quilting, and sewing. She especially loved spending time with family and spoiling her grandchildren. Marcella is also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joe Nors, Henry Nors, Jr., Ernest Nors, Emil Nors, and sisters, Josephine Nors, Mary Soukup, and Rosie Kolar. Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen Kaska and husband Lloyd Broussard of Anacortes, WA, Karen Stanford and husband Robert of Crosby, Karla Klyng and husband Jimmy of Santa Fe, Krisann Kent and husband Boyd of China Spring; brother, Bill Nors and wife Tillie; sisters, Henrietta Chudej, Evelyn Pratka and husband Dan, Lillian Kissinger and husband Harold; sister-in-law, JoAnn Nors; grandchildren, Rebecca Stanford-Risner and husband Scott, Katherine Cunningham and husband Cody, Trey Klyng, Chase Price and wife Kim, Clayton Price, Connor Price and wife Morgan; great-grandchildren, Abigail Price and Reed Price due in February 2019; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Trey Klyng, Chase Price, Clayton Price, Connor Price, Scott Risner, and Cody Cunningham. Obituary published online 25 Oct 2018 by Aderhold Funeral Home, West, Texas.
