Bio

Arthur Victor Pariset, 89, Beaver Crossing, died Oct. 27, at Memorial Hospital, Seward. He was born on Jan. 24, 1913, on a farm south of Milford, to Victor and Augustine (Rousselle) Pariset. He attended country school and as a teenager helped his widowed mother with the farming. He married Evelyn Cromwell on May 26, 1937. They lived south of Seward and later moved north of Beaver Crossing. Mr. Pariset was in the milk transportation business for a while and owned Laudromats in six towns. He also enjoyed purchasing and selling farm equipment. Mr. Pariset was a member of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church and served on many church boards, including treasurer of the building committee for the parsonage that was built in 1980. He served on the Coop board for several years and was a member of the Beaver Crossing Restaurant Corporation for several terms, staying active until the final dissolution of the café in 1981. He was a member of the Beaver Crossing development corporation that was responsible for building new homes in Beaver Crossing. In 1974 and 1975, he served as the president of the board of directors of the Great Plains Railroad Corporation which purchased an abandoned Northwestern line and worked until the final settlement when the rail line did not prove feasible. Mr. Pariset was preceded in death by an infant grandson; a brother, Charles Pariset; and sisters, Juliet Newton and Evangeline Burkey. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Beaver Crossing; sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Jerry Pariset, Beaver Crossing, Donald and Pat Pariset, Omaha; grandchildren, Kim and Tim Due, Friend, Julie and Rob Klein, St. Peters, Mo., Gail and Craig Conta, Aurora, Colo., Marcy and Jay Welch, Hebron, Timothy Pariset, Lincoln, Michelle and John Anderson, Overland Park, Kan., Melissa Pariset and fiancé Jason Cetak, Omaha, Dr. Michael Pariset, Seattle, Wash.; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Owens, Seward; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Oct. 30 at the United Methodist Church in Beaver Crossing, with Rev. Michael Moyer officiating. Internment is in the Mount Prairie Cemetery, Rural Goehner. Pallbearers were Robert and Victor Pariset, Harry Burkey, Kenneth and Rex Owens and Delmar Borchers. Memorials have been established with the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Nebraska Leukemia Association. "Milford Times," Nov. 6, 2002
