The Columbus Daily Telegram, November 12, 1955 JENKINS--Former resident of Columbus dies at Norfolk Mrs. Lee A. Jenkins, sr., 64, formerly of Columbus, died Friday morning at her home in Norfolk. She had been ill the past year. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the Gass chapel in Columbus, with the Rev. Adrian Edgar of Norfolk officiating and burial will be in the Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home from 11 a.m., Monday until the service. She was born Susan Bouton, daughter of Samuel L. and Alice E. Hoover Bouton, on Aug. 20, 1891 at Dakota City. On June 30, 1915, she married Lee A. Jenkins, at Madison. They resided at Columbus, moved to a farm northwest of Madison, and then to Norfolk. Mrs. Jenkins was affiliated with the Methodist church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Norfolk. She is survived by four sons, Lee, jr., of Lindsay, Edward of St. Edward, George and Elton of Norfolk; three daughters, Betty of Norfolk, Mrs. M.R. (Mary) Stroh of Fremont, and Mrs. Charles (Bonnie) Strand of Nickerson; 10 grandchildren; one sister and one brother. Her husband, her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
