Hazel Pearl McReynolds was the first child born to William and Willie McReynolds. She was born August 28, 1903 in Hanna, McIntosh County, Oklahoma; it was known as Indian Territory at the time. Hazel had seven siblings, all whom are deceased now. She attended schools in Okfuskee County area and was able to read and write English according to her school enrollment documents. On February 17, 1925 at the age of twenty-one Hazel married John Fredrick Trantham in Okfuskee County Oklahoma, United States. John had just finished his service obligations during World War1.They soon made their home in Texas and started a family. Children born to them are the following: Elizabeth 1924-2001, Richard 1927-1987, Roy 1929-1986, Francine 1932-2002 and Marion 1934-2010, all children were born in Texas, United States. Circa 1940 work was hard to find so Hazel and John decided to move West in search of better living conditions. They worked picking many fields throughout California’s central valley where fruit and cotton were plentiful. The older children worked with them. They eventually end up in Monterey County where the children attended schools an life was so much better for them. Hazel and John lived in Monterey County until their demise. They are both buried next to each. Hazel and John both sacrificed so their children and grandchildren could have a better life.
