Bio
Maggie Myrtle Carter lived a long and fruitful life. She died 11 Jun 1989 in Alice, Texas. She was a strong and faithful member of the Church of Christ. She was affectionately known as "Mama Carter." She was acquainted with sorrow, having two of her children die before maturity, an infant daughter, and fifteen-year-old son. The inscription on her gravestone perfectly described her: "She lived her life for others." At the time of her death three of her children outlived her, Verta Clay Carter of Alice, Allie Faye Trusty of San Antonio, and Walter Clyde Carter of Eustace; also 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 18 great, great-grandchildren.
