Laura Mae Coble Jackson, age 93, of Jerome, Idaho, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at St. Benedicts Family Medical Center in Jerome following a brief illness. She was born March 30, 1914, (on her mother's 18th birthday) in Red River Valley, Texas, to William and Etta Coble. Laura Mae was raised in Texas and married Robert S. Jackson on April 9, 1932. While Robert was serving in the Army, Laura worked at Camp DeAnza, Calif., in the kitchen serving Army personnel. After his release from the Army in 1944, they moved their family to Jerome to be close to Robert's older brother, Bill Jackson. Laura Mae enjoyed working in the fields during harvest and planting and always credited the hard work as helping her live a long and productive life. She also worked at Kimberly Seed and Bean for a number of years in the 1950s, then was employed at Idaho Frozen Foods until she retired. Laura Mae was a longtime member of the Jerome Bible Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge in Jerome for many years. Robert and Laura had five children, daughters, Betty Jo Sims of Jerome and Anietha (Darryl) Cameron of Twin Falls, and sons, James Jackson (Yrma) of La Place, La., John Jackson (Billie) of Kenton, Okla., and Robert S. (Jennifer) Jackson Jr. of Twin Falls. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister and two brothers, Syble Alexander of Paris, Texas, Richard Coble of San Antonio, Texas, and Bill Coble, also of Texas. Laura Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert S. Jackson Sr.; and her younger brothers, Delbert Coble, Gordon Coble and Gene Coble.
