Murphy, 72, a resident of Heritage Village South, died Friday, June 20. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. William Doran will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery... Mrs. Murphy was born Nov. 12, 1913, at Ponca City, Okla., the daughter of Dan and Cecil Clement Fowler. She received her education and grew up in the Scotia area. She married Raymond Murphy at Scotia. They lived in Valley County, later moving to Grand Island where she worked at the Nebraska Veterans Home from 1955 until retirement in 1976. Mr. Murphy died in 1974. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Weston (Mary) Bloomquist, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Butts and Mrs. Leland (Virginia) Nehls, all of Grand Island; a son, Bill of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Beatrice Murphy of Grand Island and Mrs. Edna Drake of Kearney; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and other relatives.
