Sharon Marie Bowers, 74, of Grand Island passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Grand Island Veterans Home. A service and celebration of Sharon’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Bonnie Hendricks of Chapman United Methodist Church will officiate. Sharon was born June 17, 1943, in Platte Center, the daughter of Donald and Josephine (Evans) Carrig. She grew up and received her education in Platte Center and Columbus. On Sept. 5, 1987, Sharon was united in marriage to John L. Bowers. Sharon loved to cook and could fry a “mean-ass chicken.” She ran restaurants in St. Edwards and Albion. She also enjoyed playing cards and would play for hours on end. Sharon was a member of Chapman United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and VFW Auxiliary 1347. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Karen Linden of Grand Island; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Carrig of Columbus; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Ron Kruse; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on July 2, 2016; her parents; a brother-in-law, Bob Linden; sisters, Virginia, Maryo, Betty Jo and Donna; and brothers, Raymond, Jay, Joseph, Paul and Dick.
