HOWARD WALTERS 1889-1966 Howard Alphus Walters was born on 15 Oct 1889 in Anderson County, Texas to Joel Saunders Walters and Lucinda (Welborn) Walters. He died on 05 Oct 1966 in Palestine, Anderson County, Texas ten days before his 77th birthday. He retired from the public schools, in 1956, after 46 years. He served as superintendent of the Slocum schools for eight of those years and as superintendent of the county school for four years. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, one sister, and several nieces and nephews.
