ECTA WALTERS 1910-1996 Howard Ecta Walters was born on 26 Jun 1910 in Slocum, Anderson County, Texas to Howard Alphus Walters and Virginia Florence (Day) Walters. He died on 08 Jun 1996 at Dogwood Trails Health Care Facility in Woodville, Tyler County, Texas at the age of 85. He married Sid Greenwood on 03 May 1936 in Anderson County, Texas. He served as Anderson County School Superintendent from 1967 until 1974. He taught school for 37 years, serving as a coach and principal. He served 29 years on the Board of Directors of Anderson County Memorial Hospital. He helped in the establishment of Trinity Valley Community College, where he served on the school board for many years. He was a graduate of Palestine High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Sam Houston State University, and his Master's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Palestine. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; one daughter, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister.
