L. J. was born in the Sand Springs area of Anderson Co, TX to Tecumseh Lycurgus Burns and Mary Warden Ross. His parents are buried in Providence Church Cemetery. He is buried beside his wife, Frances Eloise "Fannie" Logan Ross, who he married 25 October 1886 in Coryell Co, TX. Their son, Hilary Odis Ross, and daughter, Della Lorena Ross Wilson, are buried in Ferguson Cemetery. Their son, Will Eldon Ross, is buried in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Their son, Leslie Benjamin Ross, is buried in Roselawn Park. Their son, James Aaron "Jimmy" Ross, is buried in New Addition Annex of Palestine City Cemetery.
