Bio

Mary was born in Nacogdoches County to Daniel Killion, born about 1827 in Blount County, Alabama. Daniel married Sarah Eliabeth Nesbitt on March 9, 1848 in Nacogdoches County. Sarah was born about 1828 in Blount County, Alabama, and died after 1870 in Anderson County, Texas. Her parents are buried in a private cemetery in Anderson County on land that is still in the Killion family. She married Jessie Jasper Ferguson 8 February 1870 in Anderson Co, TX. Their sons, Dan A. Ferguson, Jesse Jasper "Jay" Ferguson, and Robert Ely Ferguson, and daughers, Leona Sarah Isabel "Bell" Ferguson Gibson, Jettie Ida Ferguson Hassell and Dicie Jane Ferguson Bowman, are buried in Ferguson Cemetery. Mary's grandparents were Goodwin Killion born February 9, 1790 in what is now Lincoln County, North Carolina. Goodwin married Jane Tharp on August 9, 1808 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Goodwin was the son of William Killion and Mary Goodwin, his mother's maiden name being the origin of his first name. Goodwin was their first born.
