Services for Thomas Peter Eakes, 73, 424 Scotland, will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. He will lie in state at the Brennan Funeral Home from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited in the funeral home Tuesday by the St. Vincent De Paul Society at 6:45 p.m., Fourth Degree at 7 p.m., Knights of Columbus No. 534 at 7:15 p.m., and the parish at 7:30 p.m. It will also be recited at the regular meeting of the Daughters of Isabella at 8 p.m. Mr. Eakes died Saturday in a Topeka hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1886 in Pfeiffer, Russia, and came to Topeka in 1891. Before his retirement he was the owner of the T. P. Grocery, 1401 Seward. He was a charter member of the board of directors of the Industrial Savings and Loan Assn. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council No. 534, James W. Gibbons Assembly Fourth Degree and St. Vincent De Paul Society. He and Mrs. Eakes celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Eakes of the home; two sons, J. W. (Bill) Eakes, 543 Scotland, and E. J. Eakes, 1037 Oakley; seven daughters, Sister Mary Delorine of Leavenworth, Mrs. E. R. Mader, 4813 Brentwood, Mrs. J. W. Lowry of Atchison, Mrs. E. B. Parker Jr. of Goodman, Miss., Mrs. Stanley T. Bahner, 1927 Arnold, and Mrs. Lewis E. Bolts and Mrs. Richard L. Woodruff, both of Quantico, Va.; 16 grand- children; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Eakes of Plains, Kan., and John Eakes, 549 Scotland; two sisters, Mrs. P. M.
