Brown County Democrat Nov 2, 1923 Passing of Pioneer Death called a respected citizen of Ainsworth and a pioneer of Nebraska and Brown county, at 6 o'clock Thursday morning, November 1, in the person of Hiram D W. House. Mr. House had been in poor I health for some time past, but was able to be about until Tues day evening, when he went to the home of his niece, Mrs. Ed. L Cheney. A physician was called, and his condition was considered serious throughout the night. However, on Wednesday his condition was slightly improved, but he took a turn for the worse Wednesday night and the end came Thursday morning. Hiram House was born in Michigan August 5, 1857. He came to Nebraska in 1871, near Hastings. He was a united in marriage to Florence Ghant in 1881 at Doniphan, Nebr. The family moved to Brown county in 1883, and later settled in Ainsworth. Mrs. House died several years ago. He is survived by four sons, S George and Oscar of Ralston, R Wyo., Ernest of Ainsworth and Henry of Omaha; one daughter, Mrs. Chas. Remy, Yankton, S. D. Mr. House was always considered one of our best citizens, progressive and enterprising. He a served for several years on the city council during the years when Ainsworth needed pushers at the helm. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and had hosts of warm friends who will sadly miss "dads" kindly greetings. Henry House and Mrs. Chas. Remy are expected to arrive Thursday night, but funeral arrangements have been deferred pending word from relatives at a distance.
