Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent December 1983 ALDA - Max O. Trosper, 61, of Alda died Sunday at an Omaha hospital. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Wayne Thieszen will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island with military rites at graveside. . . Mr. Trosper was born Oct. 12, 1922, at Albion, the son of Albert and Inez Kinney Trosper. He received his education at Greeley and Spalding and grew up on the family farm in Greeley County. He later worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, helping in developing the state forest at Halsey. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Army, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines during World War II. After his discharge in 1945 he returned to farm with his father. On Dec. 5, 1949, he married Donna Sargent at O'Neill. They farmed at Wolbach, later operating a cafe and an auto garage at Wolbach. They moved to Fullerton where he worked as a mechanic at the Ford garage, returning to Wolbach to resume operating the care. In 1972 they moved to Broken Bos, where they operated a cafe and filling station. In 1979 they moved to Alda where he worked for the Union 76 truck stop until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 151 in Fullerton and the V.F.W. Post No. 3576 at Broken Bow. Survivors include his widow; his mother of St. Paul; two sons, Robert of Grand Island and Bill of Alda; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Karen) Schrader of Alda and Debra Trosper at home; four sisters, Mrs. Earl (Imogene) Kolar of Wolbach, Mrs. Vern (Gilda) Luft of Fullerton, Mrs. Harold (Elenor) Perry of Grand Island and Mrs. Jerry (Joyce) LaBranch of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Ray of Fullerton, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers.
