FULLERTON — Gilda Joann Trosper Luft, 85, formerly of Fullerton, died Thursday, June 11, 2015, at David Place in David City. Services will be will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Dale Coates will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery. Gilda was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Spalding to Albert Lee and Inez Naomi (Kinney) Trosper. She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Spalding. She graduated from Scotia High School in 1947. She taught school and later worked at the Grand Island ordnance plant, making rockets for the Korean War, until she married Vernon Luft in February of 1953. They lived on a farm and ranch 13 miles west of Fullerton and raised stock cows, horses, and milk cows until 1976. Afterwards, they moved to Fullerton and resided there until Vernon passed away in 2005. After retiring, she worked at the nursing home and hospital, caring for the elderly. From 1995 to 1999, she drove the senior van. In 2005, she moved to Columbus and resided there for five years and later Lexington for another five years. For the past 10 months, she resided at David Place in David City. She is a past member of the United Methodist Church in Fullerton. She was a member of the garden club and took great pleasure in raising perennials, lilacs, and flowering shrubs. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim and Sue Beck of Long Beach, Miss., Lavern and Jody Luft of Lexington, and Russell Luft of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lila Jean Luft of Lincoln and Bethene and Mark Ralph of Bellwood; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Imogene and Earl Kolar of Bassett, Joyce and Jerry LaBranch of Reno, Nev., and Eleanor Perry of Grand Island; three grandchildren, Abby (Zach) Busler, Liz (Chuck) Lash, and Jason Luft; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Gerry Lee; infant daughter, Wilma Kay; grandson, James Luft; and five brothers.
