Mildred “Maxine” Zulkoski, 98, of Grand Island, formerly of St. Paul and North Loup, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. Graveside Interment Services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mildred Maxine was born Sept. 9, 1918, at Stromsburg, to Charles and Margaret (Tschudy) Goldfish. She was raised in Greeley County and graduated from Scotia High School. On November 16, 1938, Maxine was united in marriage to Sam Drawbridge at Loup City. Maxine lived in Hampton and on farms east of Scotia and north of Scotia. After moving to North Loup, she cleaned homes, did wallpapering and painted houses. In 1955, she began working at the North Loup Post Office as a clerk. She was appointed post mistress in 1978, working for 27 ½ years until her retirement in 1983. After her husband, Sam, passed away, Maxine later married Norbert Zulkoski on May 9, 1969, at Ord. The couple made their home in North Loup and then resided in St. Paul for five years before moving to the Veterans Home in Grand Island. Maxine was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod; she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in the LYML, Ladies Aide Dorcas Sewing Club and Bible study. She belonged to the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries in Ord and North Loup. Her hobbies included quilting, embroidering and collecting dolls and stamps. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sarah Drawbridge of Calvert City, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Eugene White of Grand Island; daughter-in-law, Juliana Drawbridge of Ord; grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Brian Morse, Elizabeth Schneberger, Russ and Lorie Mach, Malissa Dantzler, Tonja Adams, Wayne Drawbridge, Tony Drawbridge, James and Kleta Drawbridge, Ronda and Mark Schneberger and Lynette White; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Gonzo Ramirez, Andrea and Josh Bacon, Amber Schneberger (fiancé Kyle Meyer), Amanda Mach, Samantha Adams, Keith Adams, Wesley Drawbridge, Ashley Schneberger, Brett Blackwell, Steven Mach, Jessica Drawbridge, Zachary Drawbridge, Blake and Derek Barton; great-great-grandchildren, Treston, Makena, Briana and Olivia Ramirez, Kalyb and Kayla Bacon, Mason Clifton, Berret and Briggs Barton; stepgreat-grandchildren, Nicole Sayles, Krystal Smith and Melissa and James Paxton; stepgreat-great-grandchildren, Juliana and Aiden Sayles, Kaleigh and Aliyah Smith and Sydney, Dawson and Talya Paxton; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Shirley Goldfish of Scotia; and a host of nephews, nieces and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sam Drawbridge and Norbert Zulkoski; two infant babies; a son, Donald Drawbridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Vera and Marvin Mach; grandson, Ronald White; great-great-grandson, Kobe Meyer; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Carol Goldfish and Harold and Emma Goldfish.
