Robert F. Clowdus, 83, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Harp, at 4:00 o'clock last Monday. He had been in ill health for a long time. Mr. Clowdus was a native of this county and his original home was at Chepultepec where he was engaged in farming. He was married to Miss Jennie L. Hendrix, who died in 1918. After the death of his wife Mr. Clowdus came to Oneonta to make his home and until his retirement, he operated a meat market. He was a member of Lester Memorial Methodist Church. Funeral services were held from Lester Memorial Tuesday at 2:30 P. M., Revs. Barnes, Jordan and Higginbotham officiating. Interment was in Shiloh Cemetery, Brown-Service directing. Survivals are cane son P. O. Clowdus, Birmingham; three daughters, Mrs. Ora Durham, Allgood, Mrs. Emma Harp, Oneonta, Rt. 4, Mrs. Mary Robinette, Oneonta; one brother, Wesley Clowdus, Ft. Worth, Tex.; one sister Mrs. Pearl Richardson, Birmingham, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. [The Southern Democrat, Oneonta, Alabama, 06 Apr 1950]
