Son of John W. and Mary Ann "Polly" Blakely Clowdus. J.R. Clowdus, known as "Uncle Remus" died at his home at Allgood on Wednesday of last week. His death was due to dropsy. He had been in ill health for quite a while. The deceased was a member of the C.P. Church at Allgood and was 67 years of age. He lived practically all his life in the community where he died. The funeral services were held at Allgood last Friday and were conducted by Rev. T.B. Nation, Rev. Ira Tidwell and Rev. L.T. Fendley. The remains were laid to rest in Tidwell Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his widow, five sons, John Clowdus, Will Clowdus and Homer who live at Allgood; Ira Clowdus of Oneonta; and James Clowdus of Oneonta; two daughters, Mrs Leona Rule and Mrs. Terra Young of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Richardson of Birmingham and Mrs. Eliza Allgood of Fairfield; one brother Elihue Clowdus of Texas and five half brothers, R.F. Clowdus of Oneonta; D.A. Clowdus of Allgood, W.E. Clowdus of Texas; L.G. Clowdus of Birmingham and Frank Clowdus of Birmingham.
