Greenville (Texas) Morning Herald, Tue, 20 Aug 1940, page 8, S.L. Wright Funeral Held, WELL KNOWN GREENVILLE MAN DIES SUNDAY AT HOME OF SISTER Funeral services for S.L. Wright, 79 prominent Greenville man who died suddenly Sunday morning, were held at 3:30 o''clock Monday afternoon at the Neer and LyBrand Chapel with Rev. Marshall Masters, pastor of the Central Christian Church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Harrison Baker, pastor of Kavanaugh Methodist Church. Burial followed in Forest Park cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Wright incuding (sic): Scott Wright, Wayland Wright, Cecil Wright, Charlie Wright, Lenn Baker, Clark Baker, Buddy Wright and J.L. Woolbright, Jr. Death, which was said to have resulted from a heart attack, came suddenly Sunday morning, while Mr. Wright was visiting his sister, Mrs. W.M. Crelia, at Leonard. Mr. Wright was born on April 26, 1861, at Pilot Grove, Grayson County. He came to Hunt County when a young man and for many years was engaged in the gin business here. He moved to Greenville (unreadable) built his home on E. Oneal. He was married to Miss Minnie Cannon on July 12, 1881 and she preceded him in death seventeen months ago. Since early manhood, Mr. Wright had been a faithful Christian and at the time of his death was a member of the First Baptist Church here. He was a leader in Church activities and had rendered a great service to Christianity. He was devoted to his family and found much pleasure in his association with his loved ones and friends. He is survived by nine children, Scottie Wright, Hub Wright and Sherman Wright, all of Greenville, Lon Wright, Celeste, Joe Wright, Wolfe City, Ted Wright, of Leonard, Mrs. Waymon Baker, Caddo Mills, Mrs. Clarence Lacy and Mrs. I.E. Woolbright, of Quanah.
