Greenville (Texas) Evening Banner, Mon, 21 Feb 1938, page 8, Heart Attack Is Fatal to William Layfette Wright A heart attack was fatal Sunday night at 9:15 o’clock to William Layfette Wright, 79, pioneer Hunt county citizen. Mr. Wright, one of the best known men in this section of the state, died at his home in the Salem community. Final rites were observed at 2:30 o’clock this afternoon. Services were held in the Neer and LyBrand chapel with Rev. Marshall Masters, pastor of the Central Christian church officiating and interment was in Forest Park cemetery. Mr. Wright was born in the Pilot Grove community, Grayson-co. on January 26, 1859 and came to Hunt county when he was 27 years old. He had since been a resident of this county and was widely known throughout this section of the state as a progressive and outstanding citizen who had accomplished much for the benefit of the community in which he lived and the county as a whole. He had hundreds of friends thru-out this section who were today praising him for his numerous fine traits. Those who knew him held him in deep admiration and respect. Mr. Wright was married in 1887 to Dola Coonrod and to this union four children were born, three dying in infancy. He is survived by one son, Mont Wright, six grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, S.L. Wright, Greenville; D.B. Wright, Healdton, Okla.; H.W. Wright, Wellington, Texas; Mrs. M.M. Crilia (sic), Leonard and Mrs. G.W. Guy, Spokane, Wash. Also surviving are a number of nephews and nieces.
