(Lon) Wright, 78, retired ginner and farmer, and a long-time resident of Hunt County, died at 10 a.m. Saturday in a Greenville nursing home after an illness of several months. His home address was 1611 Oneal street. Funeral services will be held in the Coker-Mathews-Peters chapel at 2 p.m. today. Dr. W. Harrison Baker of Dallas, and Rev. Fred Moore of Greenville will conduct the services, and burial will be in the Tidwell cemetery. Nephews of Mr. Wright will serve as pallbearers. A native of Pilot Point, Tex., Mr. Wright was born July 24, 1884, and was the son of Spencer and Minnie Cannon Wright. He came to Hunt County when he was a small boy, and had since lived in the Greenville area. Mr. Wright was known throughout this section for his ginning and farming activities. He was a Methodist by faith. He was married ot (sic) Effie Mae Shanks in Hunt County in 1904, and she preceded him in death, as did one son. Survivors are four sons, W.H. Wright of Celeste; Cecil Wright of Dumas, Tex.; Scott Wright of Greenville, and Charley Wright of Garland; five daughters, Mrs. John Singleton of Greenville; Mrs. C.J. Kirkman of Canyon, Tex.; Mrs. Finis Byrd of Greenville; Miss Fay Wright of Mexia, and Mrs. T.C. Robbins of Cactus, Tex. Also surviving are four brothers, Scotty Wright of Greenville; Joe Wright of Cuero; Sherman Wright of Hearn, and Ted Wright of Hooks, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. D.W. Baker of Caddo Mills, Mrs. J.E. Woolbright of Quanah; Mrs. Emma Lacy of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
