Bio

Elizabeth Prewit (Pruitt) was the daughter of David Prewit (Pruitt) and Sarah Downs. Her father's family bible lists her date of birth as 3 March 1831, although her grave stone has her birth date as 3 March 1830. She was born in the area of Rutherford County, NC that later became Cleveland County. Elizabeth married Spencer Wright, who was her first cousin, on 2 October 1851 in Marion County, Arkansas. Elizabeth (Prewit) Wright was the sister of John and William Prewit (Pruitt), who died in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah.
