Thanks to contributor #47510356 Charlie C. Zabka was born March 28, 1900, the son of Joseph and Edith Wilbur, at Leigh, Nebraska and passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Albion Sunday, December 29, 1974 after a week's illness. He was 74 years of age. He was married to Leva A. Hintz December 21, 1929 at David City. He spent his married life in Boone County, residing in the St. Edward area the past 28 years. He engaged in farming, served as a police officer in St. Edward, and was employed by the county highway department. He was a member of St. Edward United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters; Mrs. Denny (Viola) Werts of St. Edward and Mrs. William (Iola) Werts of Columbus; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents 12 brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held from the United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 1974 with the Rev. Lester Anderson officiating. Mike Weed, accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Matson on the organ sand "Abide With Me: and "In the Garden," Pallbearers were Jim Malone, Harold Zabka, Charles Homolka, Robt. McDonnell, LeRoy Fulsaas, and Marvin Zabka. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends attended from Omaha, Columbus, Albion, Ewing, Neligh, Clearwater, Meadow Grove, Petersburg, Fullerton, Clinton, Davenport and Sheffield Iowa, Grand Prairie, Texas and Chillcothe, Min.
