Bio

-- Published in The Alaska Dispatch News, 04/12/2017: Anchorage, Alaska resident Nell Louise Williams passed away, at the age of 94, on April 8, 2017, of natural causes at Alaska Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 5 p.m., and service at 6 p.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 757 E Street in Anchorage. She is survived by her two daughters, Juliana Wold and Eloise Hayes; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rhoda Stagg; and all of her siblings: Ella, Gilbert, Florence, Margaret, Robert, Beth, Leah and Richard. She will be resting in peace alongside her husband of 47 years at the Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove, Utah, in her family plot later this month. Honorary pallbearers are: Harlan Wold, Wayne Wold, Gavin Rennick, William Wright, Bill Wyatt and Robert Hayes Jr. Louise was born June 25, 1922, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the eighth of nine children born to William and Rhoda Stagg. She was raised on a small farm till she graduated from high school. At the age of 17, she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., and worked at Rexall Drugs as a soda jerk. It was there she met her husband, Samuel Thomas Williams, they married in 1942. Shortly after, they welcomed their first child, Juliana, in Utah, while Sam served in the Air Force; and Eloise, their second child, while stationed in Oregon in 1944. They then moved to Anchorage in September 1957, where Louise began working as a waitress at Cloudhopper's Dining Room Restaurant at the International Airport, then at the Travelers Inn during the 1960s. In late 1962, they were stationed in Massachusetts until their return in February 1964. After Sam's retirement from the service, they moved to Wasilla, Alaska, where they built their home on Lake Lucille. They began working as Real Estate Agents at Wasilla Realty until their retirement. They built a home in Tucson, Ariz., and resided there in the winters while returning to Anchorage to be with family and friends in the summers. They traveled the world, visiting 23 countries, while keeping photo albums of all their trips. One of her greatest joys was cross-stitching, creating beautiful pieces she gifted to family and friends, usually after she won blue ribbons from entering them in the Alaska State Fair. Louise spent her final years at Chester Park Retirement Home, staying active and spending time with her family and friends. With her quick wit, sense of humor and easy going nature throughout the years she will be missed. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
