Bio

Louis Paul, 89, of Beatrice died on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan. He was born November 22, 1927 at rural Jansen and was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church of rural Plymouth. He attended District #75 of Jefferson County and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1945. He then attended one year of college at Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. He and Shirley Nispel were married on July 18, 1954 at Peace Lutheran Church of rural Plymouth. They lived in the Plymouth and Pickrell areas until 1967 and they then owned the Rainbow Inn in Plymouth until 1972. He was united in marriage to Delma Lefler on March 2, 1974 at the Fairmont Community Church. They lived in Crete for two and a half years before moving to Beatrice in 1977 and co-owning Beatrice Robo Car Wash from 1977 to 1993 when he retired. He was a former member of Homestead Early Risers Kiwanis Club where he had served as president in 1986-1987 and had been a member of the Plymouth American Legion #243. He was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church of rural Plymouth and has been a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice since 1977 where he held various church positions. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing woodworking and sharing his garden produce. Survivors include three daughters, Debra Lawrence and husband Jeffery of Independence, KS, Theresa Hefner and husband Russell of Lindsborg, KS and Pamela Clark and husband Scott of Bettendorf, IA; one son, James Paul and wife Rhonda of Beatrice; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Megan) Lawrence, Jennifer Lawrence, Nikie (Brandon) Rogers, Charles (Sally) Hefner, Jessica Clark, Brandon Clark, Courtney Paul and fiancé Tyler Brauch, Colby Paul; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elda Guthrie of Santa Fe, NM and Margaret Morrow and husband Kenneth of Beatrice; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Paul of Superior; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Emma Fangmeier Paul; his wife Delma, who died September 28, 2014; three brothers, Otto Paul, Elmer Paul and Harry Paul; five sisters, Ida Paul, Mathilda Schroeder, Edna Kroeger, Laverna Kokes and Elaine Ackerman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice of Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. The family will meet and greet friends and family from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home on Tuesday. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Burley and Genell Copas in charge. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 12:00 noon Monday until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Wednesday.
