I have added picture of his baptism record whish states his name as Elmer Karl Louis Paul & a picture of his draft record that has his name as Elmer Charles Paul , stone picture has it as Elmer Carl Louis Paul. ========================================================== Elmer Carl Louis Paul, the son of Conrad and Emma (Fangmeier) Paul, was born on March 13, 1923 at Jansen, Nebraska. He passed away on March 18, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, and 5 days. Elmer was baptized as an infant and confirmed July 4, 1937 at Peace Lutheran Church. He attended grade school and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1941. In January 1946, he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in March of 1947. After his discharge he worked for Dempster's in Beatrice, Nebraska. On September 28, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Heath. They lived in Beatrice until the spring of 1948 when they moved to a farm south of Deshler where he farmed for six years. In 1954, he and Dorothy owned and managed a tavern in Plymouth for six years. In 1961, they moved to Hardy where he owned and operated Paul's Feed and Grinding Service. Dorothy passed away in May 1975 and he continued to operate the business on his own. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Superior, and the American Legion Post #0103 and past members of the Elks Lodge #2197, Eagles Lodge #3101, and the Hardy Volunteer Fire Department and had served on the Hardy Village Board. On February 14, 1976, he was married to Bonnie (Durflinger) Tambke. She was the bookkeeper for the family business until their retirement in 1984. They moved their home from Hardy to north of Superior in 1990. He was a loving devoted husband and step-father, and was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and sisters, an infant sister Ida and Mathilda Schroeder He is survived by his wife Bonnie, four step-daughters; Darla Sneath and husband Don of Plainville, Kansas, Lori Robertson and husband Robert of Fairfield, Nebraska, Marsha Dreesen of Lincoln, Nebraska and Lisa Tambke of Superior, Nebraska five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; three brothers, Otto of Deshler, Harry of Lincoln and Louis of Beatrice, five sisters, Edna Kroeger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Elda Guthrie of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Elaine Ackerman of Beatrice, LaVerna Kokes of Lincoln and Margret Morrow of Beatrice, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Private Family Memorial services with full military rites was held on Monday, March 23, 2009 with inurnment in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior, Nebraska. Rev. Evelyn Phillips and PMA Irvin Schluefer officiating. Stephanie Thayer sang "Amazing Grace," and "In The Garden," with Carlita Erickson playing the organ.
