Michael J. Barney, 68, of Eau Claire died Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the Grand View Care Center in Blair, Wis. Michael was born March 13, 1938, in Eau Claire to Harry and Irene (Agar) Barney. He served in the U.S. Army. On December 30, 1987, he married Joyce Olson. Michael owned and operated J & M Automotive in Northridge, Calif., for many years, retiring in 2000. He loved working on his cars and fishing in Alaska. Michael is survived by his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Susan Barney, of Van Nuys, Calif.; one son, Robert Barney, of Montrose, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Pamela (Doug) Wayne, of Cornell, Wis.; three step-grandchildren, Janaray, Savannah and Aaron, all of Cornell; four sisters, Eileen (Al) Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Kathy (Ronald) Schumacher of Louisiana, Mary Barney of Eau Claire and Janet (Dennis) Dean of Eau Claire; three brothers, Pat (Judy) of Anchorage, Alaska, Ed (Donna) of Minnesota, Paul "Butch" of Anchorage, Alaska; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Michael is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Golden Funeral Home, with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #53. Relatives and friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, and on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
