Bio
Irene C. Barney, age 92, of Eau Claire, Wis., passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Eau Claire on June 13, 1912, to Robert and Frances (Braun) Agar. She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School. She married Harry S. Barney at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on May 2, 1934. She loved machine knitting, sewing, catering and making wedding cakes. She is survived by her eight children, Eileen (Al) Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Pat (Judy) Barney of Anchorage, Alaska, Mike (Joyce) Barney of Eau Claire, Kathy (Ron) Schumacher of Baton Rouge, La., Mary Barney of Eau Claire, Ed (Donna) Barney of Hastings, Minn., Paul “Butch” Barney of Anchorage, Alaska, and Janet (Dennis) Dean of Eau Claire; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, on Feb. 23, 1988; one grandson; and her parents. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bill Dhein officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Prock Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call one hour prior to the service at church.
