Marshall Ray Perkins February 4, 1941 - July 27, 2016 Marshall Perkins, 75, retired dental technician, died Wed., July 27, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Perkins was born in Leesville, LA on Feb. 4, 1941 to the late Monroe and Maedella Bass Perkins. He came to Pensacola in 1976 from Millington, TN. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired in 1979 after a tour of sea duty aboard the U.S.S. Lexington. After retiring from the Navy he owned and operated Perkins Transportation, Inc. running a trucking and then auto-hauling business in Pensacola. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dwayne Perkins; brothers, Leo Perkins and Merlynn Perkins; and sisters, Theda Sain and Opal Carroll. Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Janet Perkins; daughter, Katherine (Bruce) Cotton; grandson, Curtis Cotton; granddaughter, Morgan Cotton; brothers, James Perkins and Frank Perkins; and sisters, Sybil Nash-Martin, Donice Gentry and Sue Cadle. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 1, 2016 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Eugene Stokes officiating. Burial will follow services in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL. The family will receive friends on Sun., July 31, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
