Annie Mae (Bednar) Pomykal passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2016. The viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Brenham. Interment will follow in National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Guests are invited back to St. Peter’s for a reception. Annie was born in Latium, Texas, to the late Cyril and Johanna Bednar. She met Frank Pomykal at a Halloween Carnival in Welcome. They married on November 1, 1952, after he returned home from the Korean War. Annie’s greatest joy was to cook for everyone. She was most well known for her "Granny cookies" and dill pPickles. Annie was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 19. She never complained and never slowed down. She would tell everyone her "hot tub" is what kept her going all those years. The last two and half years, Annie lived with her son, Brice, and her daughter-in-law Kalisa, grandson Hunter, and Mrs. Fischer, her daughter-in-law’s mother. Mrs. Fischer and Annie looked after each other these last two years and played dominos every afternoon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Frank; and siblings: Della, Raymond and Mary. Survivors include her son, Brice Pomykal and his wife, Kalisa; daughter, Aneya Elbert; grandchildren: Joey, Sarah, Allison, Hunter, Kody, and Katy and her husband, Will; her great-granddaughter, Joee; sister, Barbara Moseley; and numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
